  8.       BACKGROUND
  9.       
  10.       If your Stacker coprocessor was installed and working when you
  11.       installed Stacker 4.0, you can set up Stacker to continue using
  12.       it by following these instructions. The process is a bit
  13.       different depending on whether you are using an operating system
  14.       like MS-DOS 6 which preloads
  15.       compression.
  16.       
  17.                                     Note
  18.          Stac supplies the AT/16 LZS server file on the Stacker 4.0
  19.       distribution disks. If you are using either the XT/8 or the MC/16
  20.       coprocessor, you can obtain the appropriate server file from the
  21.                      Stac BBS or from Stac on Compuserve
  22.

  25.           Procedures if you are using MS-DOS 6, PC-DOS 6.1, or Novell
  26.            DOS 7.
  27.           Procedures for other DOS versions.

  29.       Procedures if you are using MS-DOS 6, PC-DOS 6.1, or Novell DOS
  30.       7.

  32.       These DOS versions support preloading compression drivers. Note
  33.       that PC-DOS 6.1 supports preloading only if its file dates are 9-
  34.       30-93 or later. To continue using your Stacker coprocessor after
  35.       installing Stacker 4.0, you need to determine the base address
  36.       for your AT/16 coprocessor, add a line to your CONFIG.SYS file
  37.       and restart your computer.
  38.       
  39.        1.  Determine the base address for the card by viewing your
  40.            STACKER.INI file.
  41.                a.  Change to your STACKER directory.
  42.                b.  Type ED and choose STACKER.INI from the File menu.
  43.                c.  Write down the number after the /B=. This is the
  44.                    base address for your coprocessor. The possible base
  45.                    addresses are:
  46.                          200
  47.                          220
  48.                          240
  49.                          260
  50.                          280
  51.                          2A0
  52.                          2E0
  53.        
  54.                    You must use the same base address to ensure that your
  55.                    coprocessor continues to function.
  56.                d.  The /B switch has no effect in the STACKER.INI
  57.                    file. Move the cursor to this line and press Delete
  58.                    repeatedly to remove it.
  59.                e.  Choose Save from the File menu to save the file.
  60.        2.  Now edit your CONFIG.SYS file.
  61.                a.  Choose CONFIG.SYS from ED's File menu.
  62.                b.  Type the following line immediately before the line
  63.                    that begins with "DEVICEHIGH." and ends with 
  64.                    "STACHIGH.SYS":
  65.                    DEVICE = C:\STACKER\LZS_AT16.SYS /B=base address
  66.                    where base address is the number from the /B line.
  67.                c.  Choose Save from the File menu and then choose
  68.                    Exit.
  69.        3.  Restart your computer to put the change into effect.

  71.       Procedures for other DOS versions.

  73.       To use your installed and previously working Stacker coprocessor
  74.       with Stacker 4.0, run Stacker Setup as usual. Stacker will
  75.       continue to use the coprocessor.
